Children spend far more time indoors and we know that damp buildings are causing NEW cases of asthma in otherwise healthy people (WHO, 2009). Mold experts are found, scattered across the nation. It pays to do one's homework in the selection of any expert or physician. This is what the Rhino Times published, Aug., 2009, regarding a " mold expert" Linda May, RN, who traveled to North Carolina in June, paid for by parents at a mold-ridden school. We are concerned that the truth about the dangers of mold may be muddied by the rest of the information in the article. Yes, it is dangerous to have indoor mold and damp buildings, according to all authoritative sources - such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the US EPA, the Institute of Medicine, the US GAO, the CDC, and Health Canada, among others. The state of the art regarding testing for mold, in buildings and humans, is constantly under development.
