The Center for School Mold Help would like to recognize the legislative accomplishments of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, including his strong interest in the betterment of living conditions for the common man, woman, and child in the United States. In that interest, Senator Kennedy called for the US GAO: MOLD Audit, completed in 2008, recognizing that mold is a threat to the public health. This is a video of a recent press conference held July, 2009, that you won't want to miss - Los Angeles  workers describe injuries they allege came from a "sick" movie site that included leaky buildings and a Kaiser worker describes injuries she and her family allegedly sustained while she was working at the site of a hospital built on land that was a former toxic dump. Their described injuries may sound very familiar to those with school mold and other environmental injuries. (SMH)

This article, from Counterpunch, describes a scenario all-too-familiar to those trapped working inside sick, damp buildings - when work kills, this is unacceptable. When work kills millions, it becomes a (hidden) pandemic. We ask that you write and call your legislators and President Obama to demand that OSHA devise precaution-based regulations to protect workers from dangerous indoor air quality, dampness, and mold in our workplaces.

As a worker whose health has been destroyed (and lucky to still be alive, though I expect to have a shortened lifespan) by mold and damp buildings in schools, I can definitely relate to this article. The attitude that worker lives and health are expendable is unacceptable in America, it sounds like something from early industrial times, but surely has a death grip on our current bureacracy. Does the signing of this UN document really mean that the USA will now treat those of us with disabilities equally? If so, we'd like to see a start in the right direction by the US gov't preventing employer, state, and federal attacks on workers injured on the job (such as those injured in sick buildings), and actually providing benefits to them that they are entitled to. We'd like to see employers required to make accommodations for workers who could be productive with a bit of tolerance for their disabilities. We'd like to see affordable, continued medical coverage entitlement for all disabled persons. Perhaps there will be a better day coming, because right now, things are very unequal. (SMH)
