A demonstration outside of Corona del Sol High School, in Tempe, AZ, took place April 22, 2008, to protest the refusal of the school district to allow an independent tester to come in to find out why the school's occupants are so deathly ill. Will it take a lawsuit to convince this school district that these students deserve better than worrying about dying when they get their educations?
We call on parents and students alike to find safer educational alternatives immediately. These may have to be arranged on an individual, personal basis.
Also, we call upon the state not to waste money on mere construction and repair - this building needs an independent evaluation to see if a mold remediation is feasible, whether it can be restored so people will not become sickened. If not, tear it down and rebuild, rather than waste millions on a sick building. Meanwhile, place the students and staff in healthy facilities, even if these must be rented, meanwhile.
