A Wichita high school keeps students out of some of its classrooms.
A leak in Wichita South's roof caused water damage to two classrooms
and possibly mold.

The school closed off the two rooms after faculty noticed heavy
water damage to ceiling tiles. The district is now taking air
samples to test for mold.

Students were taking classes in the rooms until Wednesday. On
Thursday, Wichita South sent a letter home to parents to let them
know about the classrooms.

"The best way to describe it is we know we have water damage," says
Principal Cara Ledy. "To what extent, to what degree, I'm not
qualified to answer that question, and that's why we called on
Environmental Services."

Students don't know when they'll be allowed back to the rooms, which
host photography and automotive classes.

"My photography teacher said it'd be a couple of weeks or a couple
of months," says Jordan Sexton, a junior at Wichita South. "They
don't know the time period.

Ledy says there haven't been any health problems reported from
people that used the classrooms. The classes located in those rooms
have been moved to other parts of the building.
