Mothers of four Moon Area High School students told school directors Sept. 26 about the health problems of their children they say are related to the recent discovery of mold in the building.
Linda Sivak said her 15-year-old son, Michael, has been sick since the second day of school. He has had four breathing treatments, he is on steroids and on antibiotics.
Pam Herbert said her daughter, a senior, has been sick for two or three weeks. Pam Norris said her daughter had missed 25 days of school last year. Carolyn Eidberger, whose son Andrew is a sophomore, said that her son has been receiving breathing treatments.
Mrs. Sivak said she is researching the topic for her Argument and Research Class at Robert Morris University.
Superintendent Donna Milanovich said that the district has made an efforts to alleviate the mold problem and she assured them there was no more mold in the building.
She said the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems would be evaluated to determine the level of remediation.
