Rucks Russell's 11 News report Members of the Houston Federation of Teachers say they have test results that prove mold in Key Middle School could have made staff members sick.

The laboratory results, conducted at the union’s request by a private firm, analyzed mold samples taken from 24 locations on the campus.

The results identified all the different types of mold and the health hazards they can cause.

Key Middle School has been shut down since the complaints started in September, and students have been attending Fleming Middle School instead.

But HISD said their own testing ruled out mold as the problem, citing damp building syndrome as the issue.

“I think it was that they backed themselves into a corner on their public statements that there was nothing wrong, and then they were out to prove there was nothing wrong.  Well, there is something wrong, and they have an opportunity to make up to their employees,” Teacher’s union President Gayle Fallon said.

The union wants continuing health care costs of anyone suffering from ill effects from the mold to be paid for by HISD.
