WATERBURY, Conn. (AP)_ A Superior Court judge has ruled that Watertown wrongfully terminated the town clerk's salary last year in a dispute over medical problems and mold.

The judge says Town Clerk Virginia Stewart is owed more than a year of back pay.

Stewart had sued the town, claiming she was working in an unsafe environment in the Town Hall because of mold.

Stewart went on medical leave in February 2006. She claimed the 113-year-old Town Hall has widespread mold problems because of water damage and that's causing her health problems.

The town cut off her pay, but the judge says Stewart is an elected official, not a regular employee and as such her salary must be paid regardless if she performs her duties.
